Germany

Osnabrück is the only German city lying in the midst of a national park, with the UNESCO-listed Naturpark TERRA.vita stretching right into its centre. The peacefulness of nature is reflected in the city's character - it was here, as well as in nearby Munster, that peace treaties marking the end of the Thirty Year's War in 1648 were signed. Every year, this event is commemorated by the local children with a hobby horse parade. One of the city's greatest highlights is its Steinwerke (Vault Houses). Around 35 of these remnants of medieval and early-modern-age architecture can still be found in Osnabrück, which is unique in Germany.

There are also so many other parts of Germany to discover. Check out our Leipzig city breaks or hotels in Sylt, for example.

Felix-Nussbaum-Haus

This musuem explores the life and works of Osnabrück-born Jewish painter Felix Nussbaum, and his tragic life on the run and deportation to Auschwitz during WWII.

Dom St Peter

Osnabrück's cathedral is an intriguing architectural sights, with its unbalanced towers, fascinating labyrinth and golden relics.

Osnabrück Zoo

Located in the centre of the city, this zoo is perhaps famous for being home to the Grolar Bear - a rare grizzly–polar bear hybrid.
