Traditional Triberg is renowned for its exceptional cuckoo clocks and for being the home of the original Black Forest Gateau. Germany's highest waterfalls, which can be accessed through a wooded gorge, are one of the region's most visited and popular attractions. The spectacular course of the river over seven cascades is an awe-inspiring sight no tourist should miss. For those interested in Triberg's history and lifestyle, visit the Black Forest Museum which gives an interesting overview on these subjects whilst displaying the local crafts of Triberg.
Fred.\ Holidays can also offer hotels in Titisee-Neustadt and Baden-Baden for anyone looking to stay elsewhere in the Black Forest area.
Triberg is home to Germany's highest waterfall 'Wasserfälle Gutach' (Gutach Falls). This popular tourist attraction cascades over seven naturally created steps, falling a total of 163m and set in charming woodland.
The Wallfahrtskirche in der Tanne (Church of Our lady in the Fir Tree) is one of the most beautiful in the Black Forest. It is just an 8-minute walk from the town centre and is open all year round. Constructed in the 18th century, it boasts beautiful baroque details, including an ornate pulpit.
The Schwarzwald-Museum in Triberg brings the history of the Black Forest to life with displays of traditional dresses, handicrafts, furnishings, music boxes and, of course, the famous clocks. Guests can view a working model of the iconic Schwarzwaldbahn railway which opened in 1873 and it helped develop Triberg as an international sports and health resort.
Visit the Cafe Adler for some wonderful cakes - including the fabulous Black Forest Gateau which should form a part of all Black Forest trips.
The restaurant at the Parkhotel Wehrle is a popular location serving inventive international cuisine. Try the traditional dessert of apples baked with pine honey and flambéed with Kirschwasser - a black cherry brandy.
