Zugspitze
Found in the foothills of Germany's highest mountain, Zugspitze is the best-known resort in the Bavarian Alps & is famous for its amazing scenery.
Germany

Located in the foothills of Germany's highest mountain, Zugspitze is the best-known resort in the Bavarian Alps and is famous for its breathtaking scenery. The 2,962-metre-high summit of the Zugspitze Mountain can be reached by taking a ride on the narrow railway and cable car. It is well worth the journey to appreciate the panoramic views of over 800 peaks and four countries. Beautiful landscapes and age-old tradition can be found along miles of mountain paths and hiking trails.

The Zugspitze region has a lot to offer - come and enjoy the superb shops, magnificent views, crystal clear lakes and fresh air at Garmisch-Partenkirchen. For culture and music lovers, Bavaria can provide traditional folk music, live concerts, musicals and the Farmers Theatre. So you'll never experience a dull moment on holiday in this German region.

Along with offering great accommodation in this region, we can also help you arrange a trip to any other part of Germany. This includes anything from Dusseldorf city breaks to hotels in Titisee-Neustadt.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen Highlights

Castle Werdenfels Walking Trail: Follow the 4km trail alongside the castle ruins and enjoy an exciting trip through history. If you get hungry on the way, stop at the Berggasthof Pflegersee or the Werdenfelser Hütte for a delicious meal.Take the cable car to the top of the mountain and enjoy the stunning views. If you're feeling brave, venture out onto the viewing platform. Take an excursion to nearby Oberammergau or Ettal - both only a bus ride away. The monastery brews its own beer and schnapps but, as the brewers are not allowed to taste alcohol, this is done by experience and a great sense of smell!
