Join Fred. Olsen's Four Fred.s in Funchal Event
For the third time in history, the Four Fred. Olsen Ships will meet together in celebration, but at a new port of call. Much like the '4 'B's in Bergen' and 'Captains in Cadiz' events, there will be plenty of things to do.

For the third time in history, the Four Fred. Olsen Ships will meet together in celebration, but at a new port of call. Much like the '4 'B's in Bergen' and 'Captains in Cadiz' events, there will be plenty of things to do, including an amazing opening ceremony with local performances and fun competitions between guests and crew on every ship.

At the festival, you will also have a chance to explore each ship and take a number of shore excursions around the historic city of Funchal, just a short 15-minute walk from all four ships. So we are going to take a look at each sailing itinerary so you can pick the perfect way to get to Funchal.

Black Watch

As the first to leave the port of Liverpool on Thursday 26th March 2020, Black Watch will take cruisers on a 14 night-voyage where they can see the stunning Azores and three of the archipelago's most unspoilt islands. After a short sailing, you will arrive in Praia da Vitoria where you will have the opportunity to visit the classic port city of Angra do Heroismo, a perfect place for a stroll through history.

Black Watch will then depart in the evening and sail onto Horta for two nights, before heading to Ponta Delgada and finally Funchal. After spending a full day in Madeira's capital, she will stop off at Leixões and head back to Liverpool.

Braemar

Following closely behind her sister ship, Braemar will start her 12-night sailing on Saturday 28th March 2020 from Southampton and will take a different route along Portugal's coastline. Your first stop will take you to La Coruna, the capital of the province which boasts an iconic lighthouse and diverse architectural sights that make the city a scenic masterpiece.

After sailing to the port of Vigo for a day, you will have the chance to adventure through the iconic city of Lisbon, where the ship will stay overnight. Lisbon has some of the best wineries in the whole world and is renowned for its outstanding port. Finally, you will arrive at Funchal along with the other four ships where guests and crew can join in with the celebrations. Just before you arrive back in Southampton, you can enjoy one final day in Avilés, one of Spain's most important industrial areas.

Balmoral

As the second-longest sailing, Balmoral will start her itinerary on Sunday 29th March 2020 from Newcastle and will take travellers to stunning blue waters in the Canary Islands. After spending a day in Porto, you can join in the festive fun at Funchal, providing the perfect chance to explore the other vessels and see what ship you want to sail with next.

The next day, you will arrive in the Canary Islands - more specifically La Palma, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. The Canaries are perfect for all types of travellers, whether you enjoy walking the beaches topping up your tan or getting to know the locals at a small town restaurant.

Boudicca

Finally, as the longest sailing, Boudicca will take guests through the Canary Islands and down to Cape Verde, just off the east coast of Africa. Starting on the 29th March 2020 and sailing out of Dover, the ship will spend 19 days and complete the Four Fred's in Funchal fleet. After the stops in the scenic city of La Coruna and Portugal's capital, she will arrive at the festive fun alongside her sister ships and will be readily awaiting the ceremony.

After staying in Funchal for a day, she will move to two of the most iconic islands in Cape Verde, Mindelo and Praia, both of which offer their own blend of Portuguese traditions and extraordinary views. On her trip back to Dover she will pass through Tenerife and Vigo, arriving back in the UK on the 17th April 2019.
