The Imereti Region is located along the Rioni River, in the western part of Georgia, and covers many spa towns. This area is rich in warm thermal springs, architecture and vineyards, whilst also boasting some fantastic historic landmarks, declared by UNESCO as World Heritage sites. One of the highlights is the Bagrati Cathedral.
The city of Tskaltubo is a medical spa resort, located on the valley of the River Tskaltubo and said to have “Waters of Immortality” which were discovered between the 7th and 9th centuries. From then on, researches have said that the waters have healing properties and have proven, via chemical analysis, that the water is unique. It is said that three pools and 50 baths are Radon-carbonated and can reach temperatures as high as 35°C. These can help with metabolic, circulatory and skin problems, which is just one of the many reasons why Tskaltubo is one of Georgia's flagship historic spa towns.
