Galaalti is located within a region that’s full of mineral-rich waters, oil and mud volcanoes. This hotel was built at the bottom of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, near the Caspian Sea and is only 122Km from the capital city of Azerbaijan, Baku. The Naftsu waters are located here and are known for their oil deposits, which have many therapeutic benefits.
The complex is both a spa and medical resort, with various restaurants and pools. The discovery of the Naftsu springs in 1968, near Shabran, was the catalyst of the Galaalti resort. This thermal spa complex is known for its unique architecture and luxurious facilities, the hottest spring being 17° C and containing chemicals such as hydrogen, potassium and iron. These waters can be drunk, but they have a very strong taste and smell and have to be consumed directly from the source. Drinking will help to reduce inflammation, prevent early ageing and stop the formation of gall-bladder and kidney stones.
Chirag Gala is a historical landmark nearby that is definitely worth a visit. These are the ruins of an ancient fortress with a name that translates to mean 'Lamp Castle'. This castle overlooks the Caspian coastal plains and is located on a mountain in the Guba Forest.
