More Chances For A Sightseeing Cycle With AmaWaterways
As AmaWaterways increases its hiking and biking shore excursions for 2016, there's now a wider range of active tours when travelling through Europe.

Many river cruise lines, including Tauck, Uniworld and Scenic, carry a fleet of bicycles which guests can use at their disposal to explore each destination at their own pace. This is a great way of making the most of your time in port, as you can cover a lot more ground when travelling on two wheels as opposed to two feet. As well as these, though, a number of organised excursions are offered that make use of the bicycles and give guests the chance to get active during their holiday.

Ama Bikes

AmaWaterways is another cruise line that always has bikes on board their European river cruises and they have recently announced plans to increase their offering of shore excursions that utilise these. Following the growing popularity of these tours over the last few years, the operator will be adding some brand new bicycle-based sightseeing for 2016. This will include the chance to cycle through the beautiful Wachau Valley during a Danube river cruise, explore the charming town of Bamberg in Germany and discover the historic waterfront of Willemstad.

Keeping with the active theme, there will also be more hiking opportunities for those who want to do more than the standard walking tours on offer. There’s the option to climb Mont Pipet in Vienne, France, hike to the Dom Luis Bridge in Porto and even march to the ruins of Durnstein Castle before being rewarded for your troubles with a wine tasting session.

Dom Luis Bridge In Porto

Perhaps the best thing about these cycling and hiking tours is that, just like a range of AmaWaterways’ standard excursions, they are included in your cruising price. That means you won’t have to pay anything extra to immerse yourself in your new surroundings and see more than just the major attractions close to the port. If you are wondering just how active these excursions are, though, they are helpfully labelled either gentle, regular or active to help you make the right choice for you.

These new shore excursions can be enjoyed as part of the AmaWaterways river cruises that we have available on the website. If you would like more information, you can call our helpful team today.
