American company Un-Cruise Adventures aims to show cruisers the natural beauty of the Columbia and Snake rivers whilst also allowing them to discover the cultural history found in this part of the USA. The SS Legacy, their only river ship, is built to resemble the great American steamers that chugged along these waters in days gone by and a journey aboard her is sure to take you back in time.
For 2016 the cruise operator has added even more themed departures to enhance the already immersive experiences that they provide. Many of these are wine themed river cruises that focus on the different wines being produced in the region, complete with tours, tastings and onboard lectures from experts on the subject. There are seven ‘Ameritage! Four Rivers of Wine & History’ cruises in total between April and October this year, with many more ‘Legacy of Discovery’ itineraries, which also visit wineries, scheduled too.
On top of that, certain departure dates also have an additional focus. For example, there are Chairman’s and Alumni cruises available throughout 2016 and 2017. The former allows cruisers to meet leading members of the company during their time on board, whilst the latter brings together travellers that have sailed with Un-Cruise in the past, giving them the chance to reunite with old acquaintances and interact with like-minded people.
Furthermore, there are two special explorer voyages sailing in May 2016 and two river cruises with a musical entertainment theme. The explorer sailings will delve into the story of Lewis and Clark, the fabled adventurers who journeyed across much of the United States on their 1804 expedition. A guest historian will bring these tales to life as you make a similar trip more than 200 years later. As for the music-themed cruises, there are two different genres being offered. A smooth jazz cruise will depart on July 23rd, 2016 featuring the earthy tones of singer Josephine Powell and the nimble-fingered prowess of keyboard player Paul Richardson. Then, seven days later, a nostalgic river cruise is scheduled for those who wish to relive the 1940s and recount stories of WWII. Entertainment duo Letters From Home will be on board to honour veterans and active military personnel with singing, dancing and comedy.
