Sail the legendary “Father Rhine” from Amsterdam to Basel, taking in ever-changing scenery and a wealth of historic highlights along the way. Journey through the Dutch IJsselmeer to Cologne before following the Moselle River, where steep vineyards rise above charming riverside towns. Cruise through the myth-enshrouded Middle Rhine Valley, with its many castles and the famous Lorelei rock, and discover the historic city of Speyer. Continue to Strasbourg, capital of the Grand Est region, before arriving in Basel at the meeting point of France, Germany and Switzerland.
From Basel, travel by rail to the shores of Lake Como, where you will be met by your tour manager in Como for the start of the escorted portion of your holiday. Here, you will join a small group for three nights in a 4-star lakeside hotel, with time to enjoy a guided visit of Como, exploring its historic old town, elegant squares and scenic setting between the lake and mountains. Cruise to Bellagio to wander its cobbled streets and admire the grand lakeside villas, then visit Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo, celebrated for its fine art collection and magnificent botanical gardens.
