How long have you been working for Fred.\ River Cruises?
I started my career in travel back in 2009 working in reservations for Fred Olsen Cruise Lines. In 2010 I joined Fred Olsen Travel, where I have had a number of roles including Sales Consultant for Star Clippers & AmaWaterways, Reservations Manager, UK Sales Manager for AmaWaterways and now UK Sales Manager for Fred.\ River Cruises.
What, do you believe, makes river cruising unique?
River Cruising is a unique and growing holiday choice. It allows travellers to visit numerous cities, and countries while cruising in luxury with all of the on board cruise amenities you would expect. River cruising is all about the destinations you visit, you will often moor up in the heart of the city just steps away from the local markets, cathedrals and abbeys. On board, travellers are spoilt with wonderful local cuisine and surprisingly spacious cabins and public areas.
Which river cruise lines have you cruised with?
I have been lucky enough to sail on board a number of AmaWaterways ships, both on the Danube and the Rhine. I have also been on board Amadeus, Arosa, Avalon, Croisi Europe, Riviera, Scenic, Shearings, Tauck, The River Cruise Line and Uniworld. I have travelled with Far Horizons of India on the Brahmaputra River aboard the MV Mahabaahu. This was a completely different river cruising experience than in Europe and it was fantastic.
Are there any rivers or regions that you would particularly recommend?
I would recommend a cruise on the Danube sailing out of Budapest, a fantastic city and a real highlight seeing the parliament buildings by night.
What are the unique factors of booking with Fred.\ River Cruises?
Feel confident booking with Fred.\ River Cruises as we have a team of specialists who have a combined experience in the river cruise sector of over 25 years.
My most memorable river cruising experience was during an AmaWaterways cruise on the Danube aboard AmaSerena. There were two ports of call which I enjoyed the most. Firstly in Melk visiting the Melk Benedict Abbey and secondly the excursion to Cesky Krumlov, a small city in the South Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. This cruise was particularly special overall because it was the Christening cruise, we enjoyed a sunny day in Vilshofen where we celebrating the newest vessel in the AmaWaterways fleet, the celebrations when into the evening with fireworks after dinner.
