Potsdam Christmas Market

The UNESCO World Heritage City of Potsdam is a wonderful place to experience the magical atmosphere of the Potsdam Christmas Markets. Enjoy steaming mulled wine as you admire the historic beauty of the market's Old Town setting. The Festival of Blue Lights, located in the historical city centre, is a popular visitor attraction with a local procession weaving through the city streets playing traditional music and showing off their colourful costumes.

From the shining blue lights of the Potsdam Christmas Market in the Old Town, take a stroll through Sanssouci Park to reach the Romantic Market at the Crown Estate. Other charming Christmas markets in Potsdam include the three internation Euroean markets, which have become an established part of Potsdam's history and culture. The Polish market -Sternenmarkt- celebrates Polish traditions and is located in the historical Kutschstallhof. Polish artists and craftsmen offer a range of traditional works from woodcarvings, amber jewellery and ceramics, to leather goods and salt art. here you will also find a wealth of Polish food to sample, such as krowki, barszcz and bigos.

Journey to the Friedrich Church where you will find the traditional Bohemian Christmas market. Vendors here are decked in medieval clothes and offer a range of handcrafted goods such as shoes, clothing, and food. There are also magical events for children such as live fairy tale performances and baking lessons.

Located in the historic Dutch Quarter is the Dutch Christmas market. Here stalls sell traditional Dutch specialties and musicians play Dutch Christmas music as you wander through the market. Don't miss the arrival of Dutch Santa Claus - Sinterklass - as he enters Potsdam and rides through the city on horseback.
