Surrounded by beautiful countryside, Saalbach and the neighbouring village of Hinterglemm are nestled in the scenic Glemm Valley. The area is a hiker's paradise with 400km of well-maintained and easy-to-follow trails. The traditional village has an attractive pedestrian zone with a variety of shops and restaurants. A special hiker's bus connects the different villages in the area, as well as the whole valley, and takes passengers as far as Zell am See. Saalbach is an ideal starting point for day trips to Salzburg and the Grossglockner mountain range.
The Rauris Valley, which is 4km away from Saalbach, is a hikers' paradise. There are over 150 paths to explore.
Famous for appearing in the backdrop for "The Sound of Music", the Hinterhagalm is also well-known for its 5pm tea bar and its traditional Austrian food.
This mountain chalet has a great atmosphere and is a perfect break from the winter sports.
The picturesque pedestrian zone of Saalbach hosts numerous stores and restaurants and offers a great shopping experience for every visitor. Also, the high street is a great spot in which to buy gifts for yourself and those back home.
