Legend states that the city of Seville was founded by Hercules and today the capital of Andalucía and the main city in the south of Spain is one of the largest historical centres in Europe. There is so much to do in this sunny destination that you may need a constant supply of Seville oranges just to keep you going. Exploring the many theatres, museums, art centres and clubs is sure to take up most of your time, but if you feel like you still have the energy, there is also the Isla Magica theme park and the brand new Agua Magica water park to tire you out.

If you are able to plan your Seville city break to coincide with one of the many great festivals, then this is definitely worth doing so that you can experience them. Semana Santa (Holy Week) takes place around Easter every year and a there's fair that takes place during certain weeks throughout the spring.

For a more detailed look at the city, check out our blog post on the must do things in Seville.

Bull Fighting

Visit the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza to see a real life bull fight.

The city offers excellent restaurants serving all the specialities of Andalusian, Spanish and international gastronomy but is well known for its tapas. There are many great tapas restaurants around the town.

Seville has everything for the shopper from craftwork and souvenirs to sophisticated fashion sold in a variety of shops, workshops, shopping centres and street markets. The main shopping districts are the old quarter, Triana and Nervión.

Seville is great for going out due to the huge variety of venues. You can easily visit four or five completely different bars without walking more than ten minutes between any of them. The main areas are: Alfalfa, where Pérez Galdós gets so packed with people on Friday and Saturday nights that cars can't drive down it; Alameda, which has a more alternative scene, with lots of gay bars and clubs; and Calle Betis by the river in Triana, which is wall-to-wall with venues, from quiet bars to all-night clubs.
