Here, you can take s troll through canals and ancient streets as well as see how the eponymous world-famous cheese is made! Be sure to visit the quirky Cheese Market, complete with cheese bearers wearing traditional costumes, music and games.

With old shipping warehouses, quiet cobblestone streets, drawbridges and picturesque canals, Edam is one of Noord-Holland's underrated treasures.

The Cheese Weigh House

As well as the famous, and weekly cheese market, the Weigh House is a must for all visitors to Edam. Pick up a piece of cheese from the company's production line and visit the exhibition detailing the history and production of cheese.

Edams Museum

Across the canal from the City Hall, is Edams oldest building dating back to 1540. Inside it houses fine furnishings, porcelain and silverware.

Grote Kerk

The monumental church of St Nicholas dominates the Edam landscape. It's stunning stained-glass windows bear coats of arms and historical scenes and date back to 1602.

Edam City Hall

Built in 1737, the City Hall reflects the Louis XIV style of the time, including a beautifully painted Magistrate;s Court which is open to the public.

This small and popular restaurant serves local and traditional cuisine, including a 'Secret Menu' consisting of five small dishes.
