The beautiful lakeside towns around Lake Garda have charmed foreign visitors for centuries. Even for the ancient Romans, the area was a luxury summer destination and in Sirmione and Desenzano you can visit ruins and mosaics that record their presence.

Located in the foothills of the Alps in the scenic area of Lombardy and surrounded by the Dolomites, the largest lake in Italy also stands among the cleanest and most beautiful. Flourishing lemon trees, oleanders, magnolias and plenty of olive groves feature within Lake Garda's landscape and open the door to numerous activities and excursions. Hire a boat, walk or hike around the pretty villages or visit ancient cities such as Verona or Venice.

Whether you choose to relax by the water or in one of the picturesque flower gardens, stroll along the lively local street markets and exclusive shops, or participate on in some sports, there is everything you could possibly wish including paragliding, mountain biking, rock-climbing, scuba diving and windsurfing.

Sirmione

This attractive resort is set on a narrow peninsula of cypress and olive groves in the southern waters of Lake Garda and is the area's most popular holiday destination. With its beautiful beaches, there are plenty of opportunities to relax, stroll along or go for a refreshing swim.

Sirmione's charming Old Town features theScaliger Castle, which dates back to the 13th century, a great deal of beautiful marble streets and little shops where you can find pretty souvenirs and Italian fashion. A little tram takes you out to the Roman ruins of, found in the very northern part of the Old Town. You can wander around while enjoying the stunning lake views.

A Romantic Trip on the Boat from Malcesine to Limone

If you go to the northern side of the lake, check the boat timetables and take this wonderful trip.You'll see places that you can not see in any other way and visit the quiet villages.

Visit the MART in Rovereto

The most important cultural event during the last 30 years in Italy has been the opening of this Multimedia Museum in Rovereto (a few kilometers up north of Riva). It houses permanent exhibitions of modern and contemporary art in an innovative architecture.

A Dinner by "Needle & Rita"

On Torri del Benaco, the Verona side of the lake, among the olive trees, Aug waits for you in his "Trattoria". Here you can taste Tigelle, Salami, Cheeses, fried dumplings and other specialities with wine, brandy, music and Agos's own show.Young people come from everywhere in northern Italy to spend the entire evening here.

Reach the summit Mount Baldo, with the Rotating cablecar

Leaving from Malcesine, it brings you up to the summit Mount Baldo to see the incredible landscape of the lake from the summit. Whilst at the top, hike along the Monte Baldo paths or bring your mountain bike with you.

Restaurant in Progress

Restaurant In Progress sits on the main street of the Old Town in Sirmione and offers Italian and seafood specialities such as tortellini, shellfish from the Adriatic, fresh lake trout and various veal dishes drizzled with fresh lemons that grow on the shores of the lake.

Spaten Brewery

Spaten Brewery is located on the ground floor of an ancient palace in Riva Del Garda and offers a great variety of dishes, international and Italian ones. Pasta, such as strangolapreti (spinach-and-ricotta cheese dumplings in a butter sauce), pizzas, grilled lake trout, Tirolean specialities including spicy sausage, dumplings and sauerkraut can be found on the menu.

The Rock

The Rock's menu features a grand choice of mouth-watering pizzas made in a wood-burning oven alongside excellent pasta dishes, fish and meat.Sit in the pleasant garden and watch the chefs prepare and grill your food over an open fire.

Whether Versace, Armani or Dolce Gabbana - everyone knows that the heart of the world of fashion beats in Italy. Shopping in the little towns on Lake Garda is great fun, as weekly markets, small boutiques and designer outlets offer a wide choice. Every visitor will find it difficult to return home without having bought something new.

It's not just during the day that holidaymakers have lots of leisure activities to choose from. In the early evening, when the sun is slowly disappearing behind the hills, people meet for a drink before dinner in one of the many bars.

Around midnight and in the early hours of the morning most of the nightlife takes place in one of the numerous discos, where people are partying until 4 or 5 am. During the summer months, a lot of parties take place in the open air, where the dancers are surrounded by palm tress and swimming pools. Bardolino and Desenzano are well-known for their nightlife!
