Board your overnight flight to Mumbai.
Touchdown at Mumbai Airport where you will be met from your flight by our English-speaking representative and transferred to your hotel in the capital of the Maharashtra region, where you will stay for two nights.
You’ll enjoy a full-day private tour of the fast-paced city, including the Elephanta Caves, featuring ancient temples and sculptures. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the Bombay home of Mahatma Gandhi, the beautiful Jain Temple and the fascinating Dhobi Ghats open-air laundrette.
Checkout of your hotel and your transfer will take you to the train station to board the Maharajas’ Express for your six-night All-Inclusive luxury rail experience, including a selection of guided excursions.
Today you’ll enjoy a boat trip on Lake Pichola and a tour of the City Palace complex of Udaipur, featuring lavish mosaics, scalloped arches, ornamental tiling, mirrors, ornate glasswork and Crystal Gallery.
This morning after arrival in Jodphur, you can choose from a selection of optional excursions: to explore the Bishnoi Villages, Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum and Jaswant Thada or simply indulge in 5-star spa facilities at a local hotel. Your afternoon visit will take in the Fort and a walking tour of the Old Clock Tower Market ahead of a cocktail evening at an exclusive venue before heading onward to Bikaner.
Today’s optional morning tour of the desert citadel of Bikaner precedes an afternoon visit to the formidable moat-encircled Junagarh Fort and a mouth-watering “Sundowner on the Dunes” barbeque with cocktails and traditional folk arts.
Arrive in Jaipur and after a grand traditional welcome you will discover the “Pink City” and a visit to the Amber Fort – a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture, set in picturesque and rugged hills. The afternoon offers a selection of optional activities in which to participate, or some R&R in a 5-star spa.
Cameras at the ready as you reach Ranthambore and head out on safari to hopefully get the chance to spot a tiger or two, among other wildlife such as leopards and sloths. In the afternoon the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the deserted red city of Fatehpur Sikri will be revealed, before you revel in a traditional Indian Evening on board the train this evening.
The final leg of your luxury rail journey will take to you the undisputed jewel of India and Wonder of the World – the Taj Mahal. A Champagne breakfast will be served after your visit before you return to the train to head back to Delhi where your time on board will end after lunch. You will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in India’s bustling capital.
A rickshaw will transport you in the morning for the start of your full-day tour of Delhi New and Old, to uncover the many contrasts of this vibrant and captivating city.
You will be transferred to the airport for your return flight to London.
