Photogenic, calming, cool, a UNESCO World Heritage Site – all ways to describe Tallinn’s Old Town, a place that never lets you forget its medieval origins. And thanks to the city’s green values and innovative approach to 21st-century life, the well-preserved nature of your surroundings is likely to remain for years to come. Whilst the archaic garb and national dress worn by certain characters in the city centre keeps one foot in the past, the other is very much in the here and now. The fantastic KUMU Art Museum and a range of first-rate restaurants highlight this perfectly. Something that you may not expect to find in Tallinn is a breezy, coastal vibe. The region can get surprisingly warm in the summer months and the seaside promenade offers a nice escape from the city and a chance to gaze back at a skyline featuring sprawling spires and historic merchants’ houses.
