Believe it or not, Corsica is the closest Mediterranean island to the UK and therefore the perfect place to relax and soak up some sun. However, merely laying on the beaches may do this destination a bit of disservice, as there is so much more to see and do here. A melange of French and Italian culture, its geographical position and vivid history have resulted in varied cuisine, music and sights. Rarely does such a small patch of land offer so much diversity in terms of landscapes. Hikers can lose themselves in dense forests, thrillseekers can enjoy extreme sports like canyoning and history buffs can explore remote villages perched on hilltops. Granted, you may not be able to do all of these things in one trip, but it means there are plenty of reasons to return.
