India was unexpectedly my favourite destination and a country full of colour, friendly people, traditions and festivals. I travelled with some friends on a 2 week tour, visiting Delhi, Agra and the Tajmahal,Jaipur, Udaipur, Varanasi, Khajuraho and even camped in the Rajastan desert at Pushkar, for the camel fair. These places gave us an overview of the Indian culture, religions and history dating back to the 12th Century: we saw 3 UNESCO heritage sites, Historic forts and palaces and wondered at the amazing architectural temples, some of which covered vast areas. In Jaipur, we even stayed in a very small Maharajas palace, where the queen had stayed in the mid 50’s and the proof was a picture hanging on the wall in our bedroom – nothing had changed since that time – not even the waiters uniforms. I cant wait to revisit India again very soon.
I have been working in travel since I left school and it was only meant to be temporary, as I wanted to be a Fashion Designer. However it was Love at “First Flight” and I have never looked back, even after over 30 years in the industry, I still love that every day and every journey is unique.
