My most magical river cruise was to Egypt, I had mixed thoughts before arriving and these made me nervous to go,however from the minute I arrived it was magical- yes it is very different to the green countryside of home, however the history and sights are a marvel, I arrived into Cairo and spent two nights here, visiting the Cairo Museum and the Pyramids in Giza, I was a bit disappointed to find that telephone wires and modern buildings were in view- I imagined the Pyramids to be miles from anything and everything- still wonderful however, and I was lucky to be able to go inside the Great Pyramid.
After Cairo I flew to Luxor for a 3 night stay at The Sheraton, my room looked directly onto the Nile and it was beautiful, whilst here I visited the Luxor Temple and the Karnak Temple and experienced the most amazing hot air balloon flight at sunrise. My holiday then took me on a 3 night river cruise travelling towards Aswan, we visited The Valley of the Kings and The Valley of the Kings, where King Tutankhamun was buried, a childhood story brought to life for me.When I arrived into Aswan our last night was visiting The Philae Temple with a sound and light show, this was the icing on the cake and by far my favourite temple as it is located on an island, and you can only travel here by afelucca, I have always said that I will return but so far I haven’t made it,hopefully one day soon I will go back.
Hi my name is Georgina and I have worked in travel since the age of 16, I took a break to raise my family but have over 20 years of travel experience , I started as a trainee and worked my way up to Branch Manager, I now enjoy working within specialism travel and my main focus is River Cruising, we can book river cruises in most countries and I find this way of travelling so much more intimate and relaxing compared to ocean cruising, It’s lovely to wake up and be able to walk into a nearby town, also the scenery whilst cruising the rivers is always so varied and interesting.
