Grindelwald

See OfFers

Grindelwald, the "glacier village", is an extremely popular tourist destination in both summer and winter seasons.

This beautiful village is found nestled in a green hollow between the mighty Eiger and Wetterhorn mountains, making it the largest ski resort in the region. The mountains and glacier provide scenic lookout points and endless activities that are popular with those looking for adventurous holidays. Highlights include skiing, tobogganing, hiking and climbing. Alternatively, take the train through the mountains and stop at Europe's highest railway station.

Every year Grindelwald hosts the World Snow Festival in January. Throughout the week, international teams sculpt and carve figures from metre-high snow blocks. Other events include the annual World Snow Bikes Championship in February and the Spring Mountain Festival in June/July.

If you are looking to explore more of Switzerland, then we can also offer Berne city breaks and hotels in Gstaad.

  • Flight time from London: 1 hour 40 min
  • Zürich Airport: 152km from the city centre; transfer time about 3 hours 12 min
  • Nearest railway station: Grindelwald railway station
  • Currency: Swiss franc

Important Notice: Introduction of the EU Schengen Entry/Exit System

Please be advised that, effective from 12th October 2025, a new Entry/Exit System (EES) will be implemented for all travellers entering and exiting the EU and Schengen Area.

This digital system will replace the current manual passport stamping process by electronically recording border crossings for UK nationals and other non-EU travellers.

At this time, no action is required from travellers prior to their journey. We recommend reviewing the official government guidance to understand how this may affect your travel arrangements.
