With over 40 half-timbered stalls and set against the backdrop of an amazing medieval town, visitors flock to the Bernkastel-Kues Christmas market every year. Bernkastel-Kues celebrates traditionally, with mulled wine, Stollen (special cake) and carolling from on high in the narrow medieval streets, lined with quaint medieval houses.
A highlight of the market happens every December 5th 2016, when around 100 scuba divers with Santa hats and lit torches plunge into the freezing waters and accompany Santa across the chilly Moselle River. Santa (and co.) arrive in Bernkastel on December 6th and hand out chocolates and gifts to the local children, this is a truly incredible spectacle and not to be missed by any visitors of the Bernkastel-Kues Christmas market.
The market is also home to the regions largest advent calendar, and a new door is opened every evening.
