Trekking in the Queyras - July 2016
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Completing the easy scramble to the summit of Rocca Bianca at 3055 metres on a perfect summer alpine day with spectacular views in all directions.
What did you think of your group leader?
Yves has an incredible local knowledge and enthusiasm for the Queyras region. He also showed sound judgement in making subtle adaptations to the route depending on weather and group fitness.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
This trek often spends time on completely trackless terrain which is a delight if you want to experience a quieter side to the Alps but be prepared for tricky underfoot conditions in places. Good boots are a must and trekking poles are advised if you use them.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The Queyras region is far less developed compared to better known areas of the Alps that often look a bit spoilt by cable cars and ski lifts running up every hillside. I encourage any serious walker who appreciates the quieter side of the Alps to go on this trip.
