Spectacular views of Queryras regional park
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Every day hiking up to peaks or cols and seeing a different part of the Queryas regional park, that are often higher and more remote than the GR routes, to get a better view of the wonderful vistas. Having the opportunity to summit 7 peaks in one week (3 in one day) most of which are at 3000m with the highest being an optional hike to 3292m.
What did you think of your group leader?
Yves loves the Queryas region and it showed in his passion to talk about all aspects of the area helping to make the holiday a great experience. He was very knowledgeable about the route and always happy to answer questions and explain about the area, including the history and flora and fauna.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Part of the great trip is the varied areas that you walk and therefore be prepared to hike on a variety of terrains. To reach a couple of the optional summits requires a little bit of easy scrambling often able to leave pack behind and it is well worth doing. Lunches are not included but for about €10 a day you can get prepared lunches from the gites/refuges. They normally contain pasta/rice salad and some snacks and fruit. If you chose to buy from shops etc. then you can only do that on the evenings before hike day 2,3 and 5 (with 6 days of hiking).
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Fantastic walking holiday and if you love hiking for 7-9 hours a day, what a great adventure. We had wonderful weather and the guides say that it is dry for about 300 days a year. Hope you also get lovely whether when you do this trip. Enjoy.
