What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
We summited Pain du Sucre, a very steep and shapely peak. This was one of the highlights and very popular with French walkers. The ascent was optional since a good head for heights is needed. We also saw plenty of wildlife: marmottes, ibex, mouflon, eagles, etc. The gites and refuges provided excellent food and reasonably priced wine and beer.
What did you think of your group leader?
Our leader, Yves Novel, was excellent. He chose great routes, avoiding the crowds, and was attentive to our needs. His English is excellent and he fitted in socially with the group, having a good sense of humour. One of the best leaders I've come across.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
The trek is strenuous but everyone in our group managed everything without difficulty. A sleeping bag liner is needed for the refuges but pillows and duvets are provided.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
A wonderful trip in a beautiful location. Any keen hill-walker would enjoy it.
