Hiking the Amalfi Coast
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The hikes, the boat ride, walking around the outskirts of Bomerano on my own.
What did you think of your group leader?
Christine was a very dedicated group leader. She made sure all of our details were in order and that we were well-informed about logistics, plans, and preparations. She provided information about the culture and how to get along and get around in the area. She led our hikes at an appropriate pace and was helpful in every way.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
The hikes are quite difficult. I was not expecting them to be so taxing. Long hikes, up and down mountains. I would suggest changing the rating of the hikes in the brochure to moderate-difficult. Take a hot water pot and your own teabags if you drink tea,
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The hotel was very noisy. The location was surrounded by construction and a noisy business next door until late hours of the night. I would suggest a different, quieter place. It was, though, close to town which was nice. The dinners were too late in the evening. I would suggest eating at 7 pm. It was hard to sleep on a full stomach, so I didn't really get enough sleep on the trip and didn't feel well by the end of the week. The hotel staff was generally ok, but they need to improve their manner in dealing with requests from foreign guests. We are not used to being rebuffed and spoken to in an impatient manner (female staff need some training). Also, a hot water pot in the rooms would be a welcome addition. We had to pay for a cup of hot water to make tea in the evening. Other than the hotel, the trip was great.
