CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING: TRINS & THE THREE VALLEYS
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Apart from the beautiful scenery, realising I was in control of my skiing. We also had a lot of laughs in the evenings.
What did you think of your group leader?
Bob was well meaning and good at teaching the skills. However, on quite a few occassions we were standing in the cold listening to his long monologues. At times he seemed quite inflexible and didn't always appreciate that we were on holiday, ie. not happy if we stopped to take photos or talked too much. Unfortunately Bob was ill for a couple of days but arranged for another ski instructor to take us out; Hans could barely speak any English but luckily one of our group could speak German, which helped enormously. Once Bob returned, despite us telling him what we'd learnt we still had to repeat things again and on one morning returned to the same loipe. It felt like we had lost two days of skiing.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Be aware that the Weinerhof Hotel allows smoking in the bar which also drifts into the dining room. Also the rooms in the guest house, across the road from the main hotel, smell of smoke. This trip is great if you have never skiied before but not particularly challenging if you want to repeat a Grade 1 week.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I'd recommend using the Wellness Centre, it was lovely.
