CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING: TRINS & THE THREE VALLEYS
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Exploring the farther valley at Schmirntal in the sunshine surrounded by the snowy peaks. Getting some kilometres under my belt on the free day. The mix of people on the two holidays which made it a very sociable week
What did you think of your group leader?
Most of what I might want to say about Bob has already been said and I would only endorse that. There are perhaps one or two other items. First, Bob and Chris worked well as a team to make sure both parties were fully briefed to make the most of the days and quickly solved any problems that arose. Second, Bob had clearly gone out of his way in the previous week to look out for alternative skiing areas just in case there were problems with the snow. Third, Exodus clearly benefits from the links that Bob has established in the area to use local businesses and exploit their strengths building the case for responsible tourism. "Mit Bob" was the phrase of the week which opened many doors.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
This is an excellent centre for cross-country skiing with a real variety of trails to explore backed up by a comfortable hotel with good facilities and a warm welcome from the staff. Good tracks for those new to the sport with plenty of opportunity for development. Ensure that you can meet the definitions in terms of skill and fitness; an alternative activity may not be available if it doesn't suit.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The holiday benefitted from having the walking holiday in parallel allowing couples to choose a suitable activity as well as increasing the group size to allow for more social interaction. Having been to Trins last year it was good to see how the Mountain Rescue team had gained from the links with Exodus holiday makers increasing their funding opportunities. Responsible tourism in action as we may need their services. Hopefully the cost of the defibrillator can be met this year. The flight times that allowed for nearly a full day's activity on the Saturday are a real plus.
