What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Watching the miltary parade in Red Square with Saint Basil's changing colour as fireworks exploded above as a grand finale is something I won't forget, along with riding the Moscow metro and seeing the ornate stations.  The beauty and opulance of the Catherine Palace in Pushkin has to be seen to be believed.  The Hermitage was outstanding, with room after room filled with great works of art or artefacts, it is impossible to do it justice in just one afternoon.

What did you think of your group leader?

Bob was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble for him.  He took time to get to know all the members of the group and helped us to make the most of our free time.  His walking tours were great, giving us a taste of the cities we were in, (even though he walked us off the map!).  He was knowledgeable and answered all the questions we threw at him.  He was an excellent travelling companion.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Forget any preconceived ideas you may have about Russia and travel with an open mind, accept that the service may not be great, (in my opinon not much different to what we get at home!), and just enjoy being in a country that is still evolving.  On a more practical point make sure you have some comfortable shoes as there is plenty of walking to be done.  Check you have the most up to date trip notes

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Just do it!  Russia is an extraordinary country and well worth a visit.
