Berlin IGA 2017

This year, the Berlin district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf will be awash with colour as the Internationaler Gartenbau Ausstellung (International Horticultural Exhibition) is held in the city. From April 13th to October 15th, your Berlin city break will be filled with a whole range of events that will highlight the importance of green spaces in the future and showcase some fantastic garden displays of the present.

The exhibition will be focussed mainly on five different areas, with beautiful floral centrepieces taking over the Wuhletal Valley and Kienberg Park, among other places. One of the main highlights of the exhibition will be an expansion of ‘Gardens of the World’ – a horticultural showcase. The attraction currently features gardens from China, Japan, Italy and Bali but will be expanded in 2017 to include an English garden and other new additions.

As well as the flora on display and the green-fingered experts on hand to help you learn something new, IGA 2017 will host a number of music, dance, culinary and cultural events throughout the six month period. The celebration will also see the construction of Berlin’s first cable car since 1957. The 30 metre-high attraction will give visitors a bird’s eye view of some of the displays, as well as acting as a way of getting from one exhibit to another.
