  • All breakfasts and 3 lunches
  • All accommodation (see below)
  • All transport and listed activities
  • Tour leader throughout
  • Flights from London (if booking incl. flights)

All breakfasts and 3 picnic lunches are included. Food in Turkey is generally very good and varied, making use of fresh local ingredients. Breakfasts normally include boiled eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese, honey or jam and yoghurt, olives and bread. Picnic lunches are provided on specified days. For dinners, there are plenty of excellent lokantas (cafes) and restaurants in Kaş for you to choose from. Some specialise in locally caught fish dishes, others in various lamb dishes. There are also plenty of cafes and snack bars where 'pide' (Turkish pizza) is served. Most restaurants also offer selections of meze (mixed starters). The Turks have a sweet tooth, so expect plenty of pastries covered in honey, as well as cakes and ice creams. Your group leader will normally assist in organising group meals. Vegetarians are well catered for.

Itinerary
1
Day 1
Fly to Dalaman; transfer to Kas.
There are no activities planned today so you are free to arrive in Kas at any time. Accommodation: Oreo Hotel or similar
2
Day 2
Explore dramatic Saklikent Canyon with optional tubing; afternoon walk and relaxation on Patara beach.
Saklikent Canyon is one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in the Taurus Mountains. Over the millennia, the rapid flowing and extremely cold Esen River has cut a deep canyon through the ancient rocks. Using a walkway, we explore the mouth of the canyon (entrance to Saklikent Canyon is payable locally; see extra expenses section in Trip Notes for details) and, depending on seasonality, can progress further in by getting our feet wet! Waterproof sandals may come in handy here. There is also the opportunity to go tubing afterwards (see extra expenses section in Trip Notes for details and approximate cost). Tubing is a fun activity in which you sit in a circular rubber tube with a paddle and head off down river. En route there is the chance to stop and enjoy a mud bath. After a relaxing lunch near the mouth of the canyon, we take a short transfer to the start of our walk. The route offers a combination of great views and Roman ruins before arriving at Patara beach (entrance to Patara National Park is payable locally; see extra expenses section in Trip Notes for details) one of the most beautiful in the Turkey, where we can relax and swim in the turquoise sea. Accommodation: Oreo Hotel or similar

Day 3
SCUBA diving day; beginners get a 'Try Dive' whilst certified divers have 2 guided dives.
Today we have the chance to try scuba diving. We use a highly recommended PADI registered dive school for this activity. They have top-quality European equipment and have a purpose-built dive boat. For beginners we offer a 'Try Dive' course, which includes a one-on-one dive with an instructor. Qualified divers can take a couple of boat dives. Kas boasts some of the best diving sites in the area and it is possible to see turtles and Trigger fish if you're lucky! The group will usually be split in two, depending on the size of the group, with one half diving in the morning, and the other in the afternoon. During your free time there are opportunities to soak up the sun. Those who do not wish to scuba dive may take the excursion and snorkel instead. You must be in good health, and will be asked to sign a medical disclaimer and show a doctor's certificate for any medical conditions. Qualified divers will be required to show proof of qualification. Accommodation: Oreo Hotel or similar

Day 4
Full day canyoning; abseil, swim, climb and jump into pools of cool water in one of the various canyons around Kas.
The mountains behind Kas are riddled with deep canyons. We normally visit the Kibris Canyon, which offers some of the most impressive natural phenomena in the Taurus Mountains; a spectacular gorge, where springs and waterfalls cascade into the rapidly flowing cold river. It is ideal for canyoning - swimming, abseiling and leaping into pools of mountain water. You will be provided with a wet suit, harness and a helmet. You must be able to swim, and boots with good ankle support are essential. The day is long and strenuous at times - please make sure you are confident of your physical fitness and physique, have a head for heights, and the courage to jump a few metres into pools of water. Accommodation: Oreo Hotel or similar

Day 5
Free day in Kas: optional paragliding, SCUBA diving or relaxation.
Today has been left free to do as little or as much as you like. Options include more SCUBA diving, visiting High Rope Park, a Turkish bath or just a stroll around Kas. For the more adventurous and adrenaline-seeking there is the opportunity to take a paragliding flight. The start point is 600 metres above sea level and the flight takes us out over Kas and the surrounding islands. (See Optional Excursions section in Trip Notes for prices) Accommodation: Oreo Hotel or similar

Day 6
Full day sea kayaking; find out how the Turquoise Coast earnt its name.
Today we spend a full day sea kayaking in the sheltered bay near Kekova Island. The day starts early in the morning; we will depart at 7:30 for an approximately 50 min. transfer to Ucagiz Village. After preparations and technical briefing, we will paddle towards the island and the site of the famous sunken city. Although it is no Atlantis, you can clearly make out the harbour walls disappearing into the sea and see the layout of rooms and houses below the water. Kayaking is an excellent low impact way of exploring the site. Later we paddle to the village of Simena (Castle Village) to have our lunch. This spectacular spot is located on a peninsula and is inaccessible by road. The village is overlooked by a hilltop Ottoman castle with excellent views of the whole bay. To participate you must be able to swim and have the physique necessary to fit in the kayak. Accommodation: Oreo Hotel or similar

Day 7
Biking day; transfer into the hills and explore the forests and coastal roads with some great descents; night out in Kas.
We will transfer approximately 1.5 hours to the start point in Sütlegen which is at 1200m. From here we will get on the bikes and head up into a cedar forest, following the trails traversing the wooded valleys and the Kibris Gorge on the left, with some fast descents and a few challenging climbs to the highest point 1450m Akörü. After a delicious home-made village house lunch we head towards the sea, either through Sinneli or İzne village, depending on the season. The day ends with long fast descents on rough tracks, and ultimately on to mountain roads, all the way back to our hotel in Kas. This activity is fully supported by our driver and minibus in addition to our guides, meaning it's possible to opt out of any part of the ride. Ride approx 50km. Min. height to fit bikes: 1.52m Accommodation: Oreo Hotel or similar

Day 8

Our adventure ends after breakfast today. Those on the group flights will be transferred back to Dalaman for the flight to London.
