Day 1
UK - Auxerre

This morning, depart Folkestone on the 08:20 Eurotunnel crossing, arriving in Calais 10:00 local time. Enjoy a late lunch pause near Reims before the onward journey to Appoigny, just north of Auxerre.

Day 2
Sens - Villeneuve-sur-Yonne

The coach takes us to Sens where we allow a couple of hours in the morning to visit the city and its celebrated cathedral. We then lunch aboard the boat as we cruise our first leg through tranquil rural scenery to the gated town of Villeneuve-sur-Yonne.

Day 3
Villeneuve-sur-Yonne - Joigny

After making the short journey from the hotel back to Villeneuve-sur-Yonne, we allow time for a stroll around the old walled town before embarking. We then continue upstream to the fine medieval town of Joigny where there is some free time for exploration before we return to the hotel.

Day 4

Today, enjoy a shorter morning cruise as we continue to the River Yonne's junction with the Canal de Bourgogne and moor in the pleasure port of Migennes. After lunch aboard we make a guided afternoon visit to the former Cistercian Monastery and Cathedral-Abbey of Pontigny.

Day 5

This morning, check out of the Mercure at Appoigny and re-board the boat to continue on the Yonne as far as Gurgy. From here we make our afternoon visit to the famous wine centre of Chablis where we enjoy a presentation and tasting before heading back to Auxerre, where we check into the Hotel Normandie for the rest of our holiday.

Day 6

Rejoin the boat at Gurgy and continue back to Auxerre for a free afternoon.

Day 7

Today, we cruise upstream on the River Yonne and Canal du Nivernais as far as Champs-sur-Yonne. After lunch on board we visit first the Caves de Bailly – an old limestone working now home to one of the great French sparkling wines – Crémant de Bourgogne. From here we return to Auxerre but pause to visit the Roman excavations at Escolives.

Day 8
Abbaye de Reigny

After a relaxed start the coach will head off mid-morning to the 12th Century Abbaye de Reigny where we will enjoy lunch – weather permitting an outside barbeque failing which we will retreat into the abbey's refectory.

Day 9

This monring we complete our cruise as far as the port at Vermenton. The coach then brings us back to Auxerre for a free late afternoon.

Day 10
Auxerre - UK

We leave Auxerre for our return journey, aiming for a mid evening Eurotunnel crossing and a journey break for lunch in Laon.
